After several weeks of planning by Catherine and others the first ever official social event for UCLA postdoctoral scholars went off smoothly on Friday. About 80 of the 850 postdocs turned up to hear my DJing, eat the meagre food provided by the ripoff Faculty Center and chat. A hardcore group, including all the British UCLA postdocs, then moved on to the BrewCo where drinking continued. It was good to meet some new people and hopefully we can arrange more social events in the near future.
