In response to the above question, I happened to find Ishkur’s Guide to Electronic Music on memepool. It does a good job of classifying “dance music” into little boxes… My favourites appear to be Vocal and Anthem House and Trance, Symphonic, Epic and Goa Trance. I also like Chemical and Big Beat Breakbeat… and most of Downtempo. Happy HardCore… is confirmed to be silly… and Techno is not on the radar.
